Aladins Cave And The Tinderbox

Open sesame,

Do you ever consider how  these “fairy tails, stories and legends “  were conceived. What was in the mind of the authors? Perhaps they were based on our basic Human emotions.

When we were children we believed them… we were enthralled by them

They are as true now as when we first heard them , at least the fabric of the stories are…

Poverty to riches … the tinderbox

Good prevails over evil…. Cinderella

Love over adversity…..Shrek

Brains over brawn…… David and Goliath

I am sure(and hope) you will add others…. there are a few that are less reassuring Pandora’s box springs to mind, those fables and stories that offer a warning…

Be good or else… Santa won’t come tonight

Don’t lie….Pinocchio

Keep your word…. the pied piper

And other’s we all take for granted but rarely truly listen to…

The Hare and the tortoise … arrogance

The golden goose…. greed

This is the core and bones of our business as Internet marketers. These “stories” were written over the ages for a reason. They are our inheritance … remember them and apply them …These principals connect us with our consumers

We are as human now as we were 50,000 years ago….

I still believe the essence of these stories are true

They are a chronicle of us … they survive in our  cultures  in different formats  but they have an underlying purpose.

To pass on our knowledge and experience.

So where does that fit into our goal to be successful Internet entrepreneurs.

Well it must be obvious….

Be honest… The shoe maker and the elves

Give first then you shall receive.. Scrooge

think before you speak… the three wishes ….. Tom Thumb

Be consistent…. The Richest man in Babylon   ( this is a great book that I understand is required reading by the top business mentors)

Believe in yourself and others.... the Wizard of OZ

Be loving…..Loving Laili

don’t be stupid stupid… thanks Alex :)

It is condescending and pointless to try and hammer home our opinions no matter how much we truly believe in them. Each of us will take our own path. But we can  learn from our mistakes and from others… then we have something to give…

I have been visiting a blog that has these qualities sallyneil.com. Sally has some practical and essential insights into our journey as Internet marketers and at the same time has an ability to write from the heart.

why not listen to our mentors?

I would love to hear your  favorite fables  fairy stories and legends… They have true meaning… we only need to remember…  Einstein said that “imagination is more important than Knowledge”

    Hello Vincent,

I love quote from Einstein at the bottom of your post – “imagination is more important than Knowledge” I agree whole-heartedly! You have shown your imagination in this post and it helps us remember that there is truth behind each of these stories that you mentioned. We seem to remember best when we have something in story form.

    Thanks!

    Warmly,
    Alice

    Hi Vince

Nice post and nice approach, connecting fairy tales with Internet Marketing. If I may give my contribution, although is not exactly a fairy tale, I would like to suggest The Lord of the Rings from Tolkien. Why? Well, because I believe “it’s time for little people to change the world”.
    Cheers

    Hey Vince!

What a top quality post with a great message excellently portrayed!! I really enjoy your writing style.

My favourite here has got to be Scrooge “Give first then you shall receive”…very similar to us giving good content “don’t chase money, let money chase you”

I’ll be back over here again for sure :-D

    Hey Vince

I loved this post, I knew all of the stories you wrote about, probably because I have an eight year old daughter.

My favourite has to be the tortoise and the hare, i love the motto slow and steady wins the race and often think about that if I ever feel I am failing behind with my online business.

Really great post I enjoyed reading it, Sally :)

    Great post Vince.

As Internet Marketers we have to get over a lot of skepticism before people will trust what we have to say.

It doesn’t help that there are some dishonest people out there.

But through places like this (…your blog…) and the way you conduct yourself out there in the online world then people can see for themselves what sort of person you are and then they can make their own decisions.

    Integrity.

Probably the most important word for us.

    Reach new heights my friend,

    Nathan

    Hey Vince,

What has your post to do with internet marketing? Well everything I guess because the universal laws which apply to all our lives, private and business lives can often be found in the fairy tales, condensed to the core meaning. I really enjoyed your post and the analogy you have drawn here. Both entertaining and educating, thanks for sharing.

    Mirko

P.S. I completely agree that you find the book “The richest man from Babylon” a mandatory read for busniness leaders. I´ve read this book some time ago and will pull it out from the shelf again. Brimful of wise counseling and a damn good read too.

      Hi Mirko
Yes the Richest man in Babylon is told in story form but really has some fundamental business rules built into it. Although a fairly tale as such it makes the lessons to be learned far more interesting.
I am also enjoying reading your blog thanks for visiting.

What a nice perspective and interesting ways of looking at these stories. I can’t watch these Disney movies the same way again heh. Thanks for sharing!

I thought I had been to most everyone of my fellow students blog but I just completely missed yours! I’m glad you came over and left me a comment as I have found you now and I love your writing style!

It is amazing what these stories can teach us and it sometimes is often missed by a lot of us. Even when watching the cartoons and the fancy Disney movies on t.v. I think it’s important to not only point out to our kids but to ourselves what the moral of the story was so that we can be reminded of it as well and apply it to our own lives.

Keep up the great work Vince!

Wise words indeed and very relevant!

The number ’3′ seems to be quite prevalent in Fairy Tales’, “The Three Little Pigs”, “The Three Musketeers”, “The Three Bears” etc but my favourite is “The Three Wise Monkeys”!

  14. Good post! There is so much good advice we can take from places that we overlook so much. It isn’t obvious to look in those fairy tales for advice on internet marketing but good advice is good advice. And those stories have been are for so long exactly because they can be applied to anything. Good creativity writing this post!

Sure, now that I am trying to think of a favorite fable, my mind is drawing a blank. Something profound will probably drop into my brain in the middle of the night :) All of these lessons and the ‘morals to the stories’ truly do serve us well in our business lives. Doing the right thing never goes out of style.
